Another sick and disgusting example of why citizen surveillance of cops is vital. I am asking everyone to help me figure out a way to help… I’m begging anonymous to help us get some POSITIVE and just action done, as I trust them more than the police or government.
An unarmed 14 year old is facing a disorderly conduct (they say he was “roughhousing” with a friend was not acceptable) and worse a felony of resisting arrest (please read and watch video! And he is 14!) after being jumped and beaten by Miami cops. We cannot allow this young mans future to be destroyed!!! Please, spread this- anonymous, help?! My god, these are the real criminals; not computer activists, and sure as hell not a kid feeding his dog on the beach!
As a young 14 year old male, Tremaine McMillan, was playing with friends on the beach and feeding his 6 week old puppy, officers in pulled up and approached the young man, asking what he was doing. They then claim they saw him “roughhousing” with another youth and told him it was “unacceptable behavior”, asking where his mother was at… First I must say…
Most teenage boys I know do spend time, “roughhousing”, not playing with Barbie dolls. That the cops made an “issue” out of two teen boys wrestling or whatever is a great indication of why we have so many people in prison UNJUSTLY and yet still are the most violent “developed” nation. If the cops & government spent half the time they do targeting, arresting and/or harassing the innocent and focused on actual crime such as rape or murder, we may would stand as a better nation. But, they don’t- so we don’t.
When Tremaine walked away to take them to his mom the cops got angry and, as usual, acted excessively (excessively violent and stupid). As he walked, the Miami-Dade cops jumped out and aggressively pinned the unarmed teen to the ground as they choked him. Because he couldn’t breathe, the teenager urinated himself.
The so called and alleged crime these fine officers give? He was giving them, quote, “dehumanizing stares” and “clenching his fists.”
The police report states Tremaine told then, ‘Man, don’t touch me like I did something,’ as he pulled his arm away. Even if that were true, I fail to see the wrong in it but, in any case, to see what really happened, watch the footage his mother captured with her cell phone of this crime below.
Please click the link here as I somehow can not get the video to embed properly. It will open in a new tab/window.
As stated, Tremaine says he DID obey orders and was taking them to his mom when they decided to jump, pin and choke him.
I want to note the young man’s 6 week old puppy- it is relevant to Tremaine and should be considered additional abuse; emotional abuse to top off the psychological and physical abuse he experienced.
When the cops initially arrived, Tremaine was feeding his little puppy, whom was also injured in the physical attack on Tremaine. However, he is not mentioned in the police report, as Miami-Dade Police Detective, Alvaro Zabaleta, said: they aren’t concerned over a puppy.
Now, while what happened to Tremaine is more important, the puppy’s injuries ARE an important part of this attack for many reasons but the two main being:
- 1) care for Tremaine over a dog is not why the detective (who I quote in a moment believes his officers acted correcting!) dismissed the puppy being in the report, that is OBVIOUS because as anyone can see- it OBVIOUSLY is valid if it impacted the victim- WHICH it DID- so finally,
- 2) the puppy’s suffering ADDED trauma to the physical and psychological trauma Tremaine underwent at the hands of these cops.
It breaks my heart what Tremaine says below regarding the incident. It breaks it for many reasons but mainly because you see his innocence and you see a loving, caring and empathetic soul having to feel even more hurt because the cops additionally harmed his dog, whom he (like most good souls) doesn’t like seeing hurt.
The loving, sweet hearted teen said (regarding the puppy’s injury):
“I don’t like it. I feel sad. He got in front of me on the ATC and he slammed my hand, then he started choking me. Then my 6-week old Pit Bull mix named Polo got hurt and bruised his front paw when the police grabbed me and slammed me down. It makes me feel sad.”
Where does it stand now? Of course, the cop’s police “detective” said the use of force was justified as the 14 year old exhibited threatening body language, including his “clutched fists”!!!!
But even here, the cops are lying regarding the stupid claim of his “clutched fists”. Tremaine denies the cops claim of his “clutched fist” based on the fact he was holding the puppy; making it a bit hard to “act threatening” and/or clutch your fist!
(I’m so disgusted! Clutching his fist- a teen- a THREAT?! He obviously wasn’t doing such but **even if** he had; how is that any justification for the cops actions against a young teenager?!)
The police detective who is, again, the police departments detective- so I assume he knows the cops, engages with them, etc…(conflict of interest to say the least!-and…blue shield/wall of protection!)….so, the police “detective” Zabaleta carries on saying,
“Of course we have to neutralize the threat in front of us. And when you have somebody that is being resistant, somebody that is pulling away from you, somebody that’s clenching their fist, somebody that’s flaring their arms, that’s the immediate threat.”
Tremaine’s mother, Maurissa Holmes- the brave woman who captured the abuse on her phone told local media:
‘I ran over there and said, ‘That’s my son, that’s my son. Can you get off of him? He can’t breathe.’
Finally, regarding the insane charges against him, Tremaine’s lawyer entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of his client and asked the court to reconsider these charges that could ruin a young man’s life forever if found guilty. The request was denied.
How much longer will these cops be allowed and “JUSTIFIED” to harass and abuse people, communities; families? How can we continue to sit back and shake our heads in angry- then do nothing?? Rest assured this is going on daily– why aren’t we doing more to say WE AREN’T TAKING THIS!?
It’s gonna require unification, no more race or economic barriers; we need to come together… We need to stop this… As I’ve been saying for years… As countless people have been saying for DECADES! Centuries, even….
“Overseer….overseer, officer….. The word officer, from overseer…..”- krs one
