These sessions are open to the community to better the community and begins at 7 p.m… This week – June 15- the discussion will be the original Black Panther Party… Check the info below!

NEWARK, NJ — The Black History Month Committee of Weequahic High School in Newark will host a public forum about the original Black Panther Party at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.

According to a news release, the free program will discuss the history of the party. It will include a screening and discussion of the film “The Black Panthers, Lords of the Revolution,” which chronicles the rise and fall of the party as well as its impact on the black community and the world.

The forum is part of a series at the school, Real Talk Thursdays, which organizers say “provides free weekly spiritual, cultural and political education discussions to empower, inspire, and organize African /African Americans, Latino Americans, people of color, and the entire human family.”

The community-based organizations helping to contribute to the weekly forums are the Newark Anti-Violence Coalition (N.A.V.C), New Jersey Communities United, Young & Successful Men’s Organization, and the Pan-Afrikan Muslim Association.

The Black History Month Committee was created by history teachers to organize programs and activities for February’s Black History Month and for the school year at Weequahic High School for students and the community.

This week in Newark, NJ, there is a free, weekly, on-going, open to anyone group called REAL TALK THURSDAYS meeting up as done every Thursday, for an hour, to discuss matters of importance but not typically discussed. This weeks meeting will be the beautiful soul and man, Malcolm X & his importance to the Black Liberation Movement.

When I return back home I will be attending religiously; however for the time I am EXTREMELY sad –especially this week!!!- that I will be missing out on this weeks discussion. Malcolm X is a man I love and am very passionate about; he is a person history must not forget yet he is a person I don’t recall ever being in a text book in school.

This is an wonderful opportunity for the community to get together and shed the chains of racism and lies; to build unity within the community! Having these educational, intellectual conversation with others within the community leads to RE-education. RE-educate the mind, share your knowledge, discuss and learn more knowledge for yourself…Gain self love and empowerment for, this is key to building a stronger community and a stronger community is key to freedom...

The event will begin at 7:00 pm and will end at 8:00 pm. The focus of the forum is to provide free weekly spiritual, cultural and political education discussions to empower, inspire, and organize African /African Americans, Latino Americans, people of color, and the entire human family.

This is AMAZING news! I hope to see more of this nationwide. Black history is not just slavery and the civil rights movement; and then I’ve heard white people complain they don’t get a special month… UMMM, they have 11 of 12 months!? My gods that makes me VERY furious, to say the LEAST. And if only a month; they should be at LEAST sharing more than slavery and the civil rights movement; the Black community, the Hispanic community, both INDEPENDENT of the other have more history than school students ever get taught, never at school! What’s worse is Black lives were the first to walk this earth… Africa IS our motherland, ALL… Why do you disrespect what you are or what you once were, or just facts, to be put even more basic for you??
