Tony Soto, Black Male & Activist, Being Wrongfully Held No Trial; $900,000.00 Bond!

“… falsely arrested in response to an incident which occured on May 18,2016 with an off duty police office. Tony has been held since May 18, in a Phila prison on an outrageously absurb $900,000.00 bond and has not had an hearing yet. The PPD has fraudulently manufactured a case on Tony and has him unlawfully detained on an unreasonable bond to keep him from adaquetly defending himself.”- Tony Soto’s mother

Yeah you saw the number right; $900,000.00 bond, and her son is not just an educated Black male; he is an activist who has fought for civil rights and equality in Philadelphia, PA, for years. He’s a caring person; please help spread the his story!

Not only is he an activist, but Tony’s also a friend of mine; I know his personality and the videos I share below his mother’s link and information will prove to you too that Tony knows what he’s talking about; that’s the real reason they’ve locked him up, to silence him. There are no allegations the police can make to justify holding him without trial on $900,000.00 bail!

He knows how to respect police and wouldn’t do anything that he knows would put him away; this is an attempt to silence him; please don’t let that happen!!!  And let me add, as you’ll see if you watch his videos, that respect he gives is met with harassment and intimidation, numerous times by the Philadelphia police.

“The cops responded on local news claiming the allegations made was done with the intent to and I quote,“bait the police.”… No, I’m not joking.”- Police use blame “game” when the media questions them over  Tony’s video recorded harassment.

He has many of these on video; in fact I wrote a couple of posts with those videos regarding the police harassment he was going through. Please, please help anyway you can… Even if it’s simply share. Remember, Black Lives Matter; that includes the lives of those living and being wronged; especially for someone who has spent so much of his time helping others.

The first post is here and includes videos an insane and uncalled for traffic stop which he recorded. It is vivid evidence of the Philly cops targeting him with harassment and intimidation tactics. Being a a young, educated Black man…who knows his rights and stood up for the rights of others as well came with a price; after a set up. 900,000.00 bail! . <!–  The following two quotes are from Tony’s videos in the post I mentioned above, first, a small piece from his convo with a rude cop:

We’re going to stop all this nonsense with you guys down here- just stopping people and doing whatever you want so that’s done, those days are over.”-Tony

“I’m glad you think you’re changing the world.” -Cop
“No sir actually, let me explain something to you, I’m not changing the world okay, I’m professional, and we’re going to change it one person at a time.”-Tony

And as he later sat in his car waiting for the cops to come back over and say he could leave. He had been stopped by the cops and harassed, treated with no respect or kindness, and the police end up sitting in the squad car until, for whatever reason, they decided to simply drive off… Before this though, as he awaits the officers return:

“I’m going to set my phone back down before I get shot and they say that I’m reaching for something.” – Tony says to the camera sitting, waiting and wondering why the cop suddenly -and strangely- decided to move to the other side of the street without speaking to him again during his ‘traffic stop’.

The cops ended up trying to make him into a villain on local media which Tony made a video response about:

Fox29 News After Story Aired; very interesting. The cops responded on local news claiming the allegations made was done with the intent to and I quote,“bait the police.”… No, I’m not joking.

As he says in this video,[paraphrased] the last time he checked, it was the police officers who stopped him, not the other way around.
He goes on to say he isn’t anti-police; however all forms of abuse the police participate in or commit is BLATANTLY WRONG.

As he states regarding the illegal traffic stop and harassment by police, the video offers a prime example of one of the many ways in which police get away with behaving in any manner they desire.

The second post can be found by clicking here.  Again, he is harassed by police on video,  and also a lot of information from Tony himself.

Finally, almost a year ago, in this post  you can check out the last time I wrote about Tony’s situation; and I made a video on his behalf as well as to explain the sickness in white privilege, for this wouldn’t be happening to a white male. Not like this.

Please donate, share and help get his story noticed. He’s been fighting for ALL targets of police killings and racism; now it’s our turn; please do whatever you can… Thank you…

Google’s Donation To Help Fight Racism & Police Brutality

With so much negativity all it takes is something like this to make me feel a little more inspired. I probably am the last to hear about it but still, I’m going to share.

I like to think the donations and work Google does for social justice they are doing from the heart; from true concern and care for what is happening in the world; homelessness, racism, poverty and so forth. In the article to follow, it is announced Google will be donating $2.5 million to organizations fighting racism and police brutality.

Not everyone is so happy about it, which isn’t shocking. Sadly too many value money over life and it shows. Google and a small portion of others seem to disagree, though, thankfully. I don’t understand what the problem is; money is replaceable- people are not. If you have money and you believe in a righteous cause it is only right to help as you can. Those with differing views are the sort I have no desire to know. In my opinion Google’s actions are definitely worth giving gratitude towards, without a doubt.

“We want to give local nonprofits the resources and support needed to be bold and innovative in their approach to our region’s toughest social challenges, including those associated with racial injustice.”- Justin Steele, the regional head of giving at Google.org

Below is the news article, and again, to read up on their other projects check out www.google.org . Article and link follow.

Google is giving $2.35 million in grants to organizations fighting for racial justice in its backyard.

Google.org, the technology giant’s philanthropic branch, announced on Tuesday donations to three groups in the San Francisco Bay Area: the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, the Silicon Valley De-Bug and the Oakland Unified School District’s African American Male Achievement Program.

“Google is proud to support social innovators who are striving to make the Bay Area even better for everyone,” Justin Steele, the regional head of giving at Google.org, said in a statement. “We want to give local nonprofits the resources and support needed to be bold and innovative in their approach to our region’s toughest social challenges, including those associated with racial injustice.”

One grant will launch an economic hub called Restore Oakland, which will house worker training classes, programs around racial justice, health care and child care in the city of Oakland, San Francisco’s lower-income neighbor. Another will fund a rapid-response network led by Black Lives Matter movement co-founder Patrisse Cullors to identify and react to police brutality against people of color across the country.

Woman Striving to Make NYC Hero, Maurice Osborne, Dreams a Reality; & You Can Help

Remember the man in the photo, Maurice Osbourne? He is the virtuous, honorable, gentleman, whom selflessly put his safety and life aside to protect a woman he didn’t know from being raped. Afterwards, when no one would assist him in escorting the sick pervert to the police, he did it by himself. He is studying to be a medical assistant, currently lives in a shelter in Brooklyn, and deserves so much love, respect and kindness given back to him. I say this as a female from NYC and as a survivor. Maurice Osbourne is a hero in my eyes. Below you’ll find his story, or you can find it in a previous post, located here.

Thankfully, another woman as thankful to this sweet, brave man as I am, wanted to do something nice for him. So she has started a GoFundMe page to help him get out of the shelter he is staying in and into his own place as well as pay his school debt and complete the rest of his education to be a Medical Assistant, Thus far $20,000 (give or take) has been raised. Every dollar counts, and if there is anyone more deserving of having something kind and heartfelt done for them, it is without a doubt Maurice Osborne. Click here to visit the GoFundMe page. Note: This woman did Maurice Osbourne NYC SUbway Heronot have any knowledge or contact with Maurice until after hearing about his heroic actions.

“In response to his brave act of heroism and on behalf of all women everywhere this fundraiser is to aid Mr. Osborne in paying for his school tuition and all expenses related. All proceeds raised through this page will go Mr. Osborne. Pay it forward and reward his good deed.
About the campaign:
I am a volunteer on behalf of a group of New York women who read Mr. Osborne’s story and wanted to personally thank him for his courageous actions. We are all locally based and wanted to show our appreciation for keeping our commutes safer. Continue reading Woman Striving to Make NYC Hero, Maurice Osborne, Dreams a Reality; & You Can Help
