#Black Lives Matter!
May this post find you in the best of spirits!
Please support or join the mighty Newark Anti-Violence Coalition (NAVC) organization! This is a grassroots anti-violence organization. It was founded on July 20th 2009, in reaction to the murder of Nakeisha Allen. She was a mother of two kids killed in the crossfire of a shooting on Elizabeth Avenue and Meeker Avenue in Newark, NJ. Ms. Allen was one of four victims of community violence in the city on that day. But three days later, the NAVC used civil disobedience to shutdown the intersection, by forming a circle to block traffic, to bring attention to the disease of community violence in the city of Newark. The NAVC would go on to shutdown intersections all over the city every Wednesday, for over five years straight. Now the NAVC continues that work of shutting down intersections, but the organization also organizes town hall meetings, forums, participates in mentorship, participates speaking engagements in detention centers, speaks against police violence, speaks against domestic violence, and offers support to victims of violence.
The sole purpose of the mighty Newark Anti-Violence Coalition (NAVC) is to inspire everyday people to help create progressive change in the city of Newark and to help to empower Black and Brown communities. Our leader is madam Chairwoman Keesha Eure!
To contact the NAVC, please call us at 908 605-NAVC.
Thank you in advance for all your support!
Respectfully,
Bashir Muhammad Akinyele
