Beautiful, Rare Video Footage From the 1920s of All Black Towns
These towns and their self-reliant middle class and affluent residents are documented by the home movies of Reverend S. S. Jones, an itinerant minister and businessman.
Stunning and inspiring! Most of us know about Black Wall Wall Street; but there were many towns across America where Black people thrived. Whites didn’t like that, of course, and as we saw with Black Wall Street, these jealous sick freaks stole by demolishing, because they couldn’t handle not being best. It’s hard to be best when they always had others enslaved doing the work for them. But this is a happy post so!
the video footage by clicking here. I can’t embed it sadly. Article associated posted below.
Part three of a four-part series from the film archive of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture
By the 1920s, Oklahoma was home to some 50 African-American towns, in addition to a large and prosperous black community living in the city of Tulsa. These towns and their self-reliant middle class and affluent residents are documented by the home movies of Reverend S. S. Jones, an itinerant minister and businessman. Known and respected by the citizens of the towns whose lives he captured on film, Rev. Jones’s work offers revealing glimpses of these communities as a haven for African Americans who very often faced discrimination elsewhere in America.
The subjects are everyday life: a family on the front porch of their bungalow, shop workers at a storefront, farmers plowing their fields, children playing on seesaws in a schoolyard. Much of the material documents the economic life of the towns, from business districts filled with prosperous merchants to the homes of successful professionals, with an abundant countryside beyond.
As Rhea Combs, curator of film and photography for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, points out in her commentary, here we even find a married couple who were oil barons, proof of the extraordinary progress made in the relatively short time since the end of slavery.
The fashions and hairstyles, automobiles and horses, and even such details as a man manually pumping gasoline at a filling station make the films a fascinating record of the lives of Americans, and African Americans in particular, in the early 20th century.
Video Update: Tony Soto; Black Man, Activist, Father & Victim of Racism in PA Legal System
If you are not aware of my trying to raise awareness about Tony Soto, a Black man -father, son, activist,…- you can catch up by clicking here for some of my former posts on his case.
I am happy to say Tony has been…set semi free from the illegitimate, wrongful capture of a then father to be (he was unable to witness the birth of his only son). As if that moment stolen were not painful enough, he lost his beautiful and loving mother to stage 4 cancer while wrongfully locked up, with no hearings, no trial dates, a bond of $900,000.00…
Why? What happened? Why does *he* matter so much?
And, what is his status now?
The video below explains…I know it’s a bit lengthy, but this is very important; it is a man who has fought for other people life I am trying to update everyone on… So please excuse length…
And, the link I refer to also will explain anything you may have to ask also. Make sure you share that link; we need to raise funds to help this man…
Feel free to ask me anything, and I will try to get it answered.
From his site:
“UPDATE: The crowdfund has been lowered from $10,000.00 to $7,500.00 because Tony’s fiance sold his motorcycle for $2500.00.Aren’t the Philadelphia Police and Prosecutors Just Doing Their Job? They Are Not Corrupt…. Are they?

I’ll Be Shopping At Target Now… Black Owned and Proud…
If there is one thing I am not, it is a ‘girly girl’ who enjoys make-up and …all that. I, of course, love eyeliner and mascara, but that isn’t just a look that is a representation of many different things depending on the day/mood…And it is also a tribute to past lives I have not forgotten; as well as a sign of gratitude and a promise to never forget the ancestors who would be so ashamed… We need change;… But I know as we fight forward we also need some positive topics, too, once and again…
And here we are! I think this is so awesome and I had no idea that Target had 1 let alone 22 products that are Black owned! Being a huge supporter of “Buy Black” I will make sure to check it out; and I hope you all will too…
#SOLIDARITY and also, nothing but love and well wishes for those involved ❤

“In the last two years I’ve created countless lists featuring black-owned brands from plus size swimwear to skincare, but the response to these listings is always sort of so-so. Folks share the lists, but do they shop? I’m not so sure. Perhaps the reasoning for not Buying Black is due to accessibility. Most online based-businesses have a final sale policy, which can dissuade potential customers. Thankfully, Target is home to 22 Black-owned cosmetics brands, with new ones cropping up all the time. That’s right, now we have the option of buying Black right at our neighborhood Target stores, giving shoppers the option of easily returning products that may not work for them.
Check out this list of 22 Black-owned Beauty Brands sold at Target: ”

I Support Black Owned Banks, Black Owned Businesses
I was looking for a bank to sign up with today and thought I’d list the resources I used to find a Black owned bank. As I’ve tried to make clear as imaginable, when it is available or within access to me, I prefer to support “Buy Black” and the Black community; and there are numerous, almost seemingly endless, amounts of all kinds of businesses and that is a beautiful, wonderful thing that I hope prevails further and further until Kings and Queens rule again…,
But for now, every little bit helps, and I hope any one who reads my posts or follows me also supports Black business.
Here is the lists I used to narrow down who I would be using.
38 Black Owned Banks & Credit Unions (opens in new window or tab)
A few other sites:
- Buy Black Directory “The Largest Online Marketplace For Black Goods”
- Buy Black Movement (Large Directory)
- Black Biz Community
- Buy Black Bookstore
- AND ONE OF MY PERSONAL FAV FOR BOOKS! United Black Books
- One Million Households
- Ebonomy – Amazing Resource & Directory
- Lawyers.Black – Adding this because of the hell amerikkka is using against the non-white communities…and out of respect and support.
- Oh! And for the kids!…. Here is a site named, “Black Moms Blog” you should definitely check out and support!
There are a lot more, but for now I’ll stop and hope others are as proud to support Black businesses as I am.
D.C. The 8th Annual Black is Back Conference & March on The White House This Week!
If ever there was a time to make note of a very important social event… And this
occurs on the upcoming 4th and 5th of November… Black is Back Rally, march and conference in Washington, D.C., has arrived for the 8th year! If you think this is a year to skip out on, I ask you to please reconsider… Things have been escalating for for hundreds of years, but as we clearly see, things are getting even more increasingly out of control regarding hate crimes, racism and this government. So, any glimmer of hope a select few may have believed in should be more than clearly gone now (if it were ever even there.)
In my opinion it is more vital now than ever for social action and unity… SO! Below you will find all the information you need regarding the 8th Annual Black is Back Rally, March & Conference starting November 4th.
Visit the Official Page if you are looking for information regarding travel arrangements and such.

They’re Trying to Silence this VERY Brilliant Black Male From Speaking.. PART 1
I don’t usually plead with you guys to listen but I am now. Not just to my video below, but to the ones from the Black male who is being targeted for speaking truth of all sorts; from being PROUD to be Black to history to metaphysics and ALL in between and all of it, is spoken in such a way that you he is not only exceptionally intelligent; but he also is not out to hurt people. He is here educating. Or trying. But he is being accused by someone called “Dr Maat” (a disgrace to the name MAAT and women) saying he threatened her in his videos yet… well watch the videos. No where, has he ever showed a gun, let alone, the machete she claims he used to threaten her life.
If we let people just slip into these racist hands we have no hope. Most of what I have to say or at least most of what I can utter out beneath this rage I feel…, I’ve posted below. Within the hour I will have another blog posted up and that one is far more important for that will be 2 or 3 of his videos, info on his situation as well as another revolutionary man speaking up on his behalf.
If you want to ask why I’m not posting more now, I want to and will, but first and annoyingly, I have a few things I must first do off line… But please, please do come back within the hour, check back please, listen to him as well… Unless you are sleep walking through life, you’ll see the truth right away.
So again; within the hour, a new post will be up with more info as well as including him speaking out on all this, as well as 1 other “OG”….
I truly beg you to listen to what is happening to him; and then to LISTEN to my friend and activist in Philly, Tony Soto; being held without any reason on 900,000 bond… (post on what is happening with him and his story, of CLEAR racism as is this one, can be found by clicking here. Opens in new window). Please share his story, too.
This man did not ask me or anyone to speak out for him. Again; for whatever dumb legal purpose; let me say once more a bit slower…
I am doing this on my own accord because what they are trying
to do to him needs to be on the lips of every person who
is fighting against racism against the Black community in particular.
If we don’t do something they’ll start killing off people in plain day light as they already do with so many other race related issues, and not only has this been going on FAR TOO DAMN LONG; it’s time tables change. I don’t promote violence; but I promote equality, I promote self defense and I demand change and that the people suffering are fuking heard! I won’t stop this life or the next til the RIGHTFUL people are in places of power AGAIN.
I am very furious… I’m scared also that you guys aren’t going to take all this as serious as it is… Same for Tony… We gotta do something yea; so let’s START for real… We been saying it, when we gonna do; when can we start PROTECTING life?!
The Political Prisoners Wrongfully STILL In Prison!
I can’t speak on this because I may lose control at the moment; please check out the facts below… These are good people, a couple I know and one is a dear friend… They wanted what?? 10 point program, the KKK wanted and wants what? Yet while those who wanted simply an equal opportunity and decent living conditions…those people are thrown away and labeled criminals!? While, the KKK sheet wearing fools are not only walking around the streets STILL TO THIS DAY; able to BRAG! but ALSO we can see them walking in “our” government, in the senate and congress openly admitting what they once yes did support but, of course, no more are they involved….
Right. Can someone tell me once more, how the hell any of you guys can think the government gives a damn or has even a inkling of a humane conscious!?!
