Sadly and alarmingly Arkansas’ no longer is number one for having the strictest abortion law (proposed) in America. Worryingly, two anti-abortion bills have passed the State Senate in North Dakota today (Friday). If passed, it would be the first law of its kind in America, banning almost all abortions state wide. One of the proposed bills, for example, would refuse a woman the right to chose whether to have an abortion or not as soon as a “fetal heartbeat” is detected (this can be as early as 6 weeks). I encourage you strongly to click the link regarding “fetal heartbeat” for scientific facts regarding what it is, and why/how those who are anti-choice manipulate and abuse this term. An example on another ban proposed regarding abortions is if there are fetal abnormalities.
There is a lot of argument on this, a person with Down Syndrome is no less of a person without it; but! it is a disability and disadvantage. If a mother and father or a mother doesn’t want to put their child through the obstacles ahead or if they feel they are not ready (when I say they, I mean the woman ultimately as it is HER body and women DO have a special connection with what grows inside us-) then that is that person or couples business to decide; NOT the government and not any religious organization. They have the right NOT to choice. We should be allowed the right TO chose what is best for us, and for our children.
Known as the “Heartbeat Ban” passed the House of Representatives earlier this year in North Dakota sadly, and is now heading to the office of Governor Jack Dalrymple to be signed. If he does sign, it will put doctors in a position of morals. If it passes doctors in the state of North Dakota will have two options: help women in need by giving those who decide it is right for them a safe abortion or turn away, forcing back alley abortions, the death of women and fetus, severe bodily damage to mention just a few of the risks this bill is proposing. Under this proposed law, doctors would face a fine of $5,000.00 and up to 5 years in prison for helping women get health care that is a basic human right.
To read the “fine print” of these bills, just the above noted can be found under House Bill 1446 and House Bill 1305.
Regardless of reason for abortion, taking away a woman’s right to chose, a couples right to chose, is tyrannic and disgusting. Abortion SAVES lives; lives of women who have LIVED, who are adults, who have careers, families, dreams. To me being pro-choice seems to actually be pro-life, as the anti-abortion a crew are nothing but a bunch of religious fanatics or men…or women brain washed by those same men. The below is quoted from http://www.huffingtonpost.com
“The Center for Reproductive Rights is currently representing North Dakota’s only abortion clinic, the Red River Women’s Clinic, in a case challenging the state’s restrictions on medication abortions, which are commonly used for abortions in the first trimester. North Dakota lawmakers also are considering a personhood bill, which would give a fertilized egg legal personhood rights, and a law that would require abortion physicians to be granted admitting privileges at the local hospital.
The center called on Dalrymple to veto both of the new restrictions.
“This will not stand,” Northup said of the heartbeat ban. “We strongly urge Governor Dalrymple to protect the rights and health of the women of North Dakota by vetoing this noxious and dangerous bill.”
Dalrymple has three days to veto the bill.”
